Good evening Westfield Families:
We would like to provide an update as to the current status of the COVID – 19 cases in our District.
To date, we have informed you of two cases of COVID – 19 in our middle school. The individuals involved include a staff member and a student. All contacts pertaining to these two cases have been notified.
As a result of the precautionary measures taken over the past 24 hours, the Chautauqua County Department of Health identified a third case of COVID - 19 involving a middle school student in our District. All individuals involved have been contacted. This case is considered an off-site positive, meaning the person was believed not to be present in school during the infectious period. The student was last present in school on October 27, 2020.
Please know we are taking the following actions:
• We are continuing a high level of sanitation within our buildings.
• We are in communication with families who have been impacted by these cases.
As a result of our communication with the Department of Health and our assessment of these cases, we are planning to resume our hybrid learning model on Monday, November 9, 2020. If any unforeseen factors arise that prevent us from returning on November 9, we will contact you immediately.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions. We are thankful for your patience as we assess these situations to ensure our actions are the best possible for our students and staff.
Sincerely,
Michael Cipolla
Superintendent of Schools
