President Lincoln stopped by WACS this morning to visit with students while he was in town. He met with our 7th and 8th graders to talk about his presidency, Gettysburg, and to answer some questions. He even got in a little kickball with our 3rd graders!
We had a blast with our Elementary Fun Day despite having to hold it inside! Way to go students, earning all of those paw prints all year long!

The Chautauqua County Music Teacher’s Association would like to congratulate 8th Grader, Ella Chagnon, on the snare drumming solo she performed at the CCMTA Scholarship Auditions in May. Ella won a Young Musician’s scholarship and plans to use the funding for private voice lessons.
Our District is honored to share that Mr. Kevin Seblink is the recipient of this month’s “Westfield Accolades” Award. You may see Mr. Seblink each and every school day helping our children cross the road. Each day he greets our children, community and those who drive by our school with a smile and a wave. This year, 8th grader Shelby Begier qualified for the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Zone 1 Area All-State Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Ricky Fleming of the SUNY University of Buffalo.
Shelby achieved this prestigious honor by preparing and performing a solo on flute at the end of her 7th grade year for the NYSSMA solo festival. Her scores from this festival certified her eligibility for the AAS Concert Band.

Friday afternoon was perfect for our Elementary PBIS Picnic! Congratulations to all of our classes on earning 600 paw prints throughout this school year!
You may recall that back on pi day in March our calculus and pre-calculus students entered SUNY Fredonia's 2nd Annual Pi-Day Challenge contest. We are thrilled to share that our school won the Varsity Division! Way to go!!!!

Mrs. Wilson's English 1510 classes have been practicing recursive writing. On Tuesday, May 30, they visited the National Comedy Center where they learned about the art of comedic writing. They enjoyed a presentation by Nelson Garifi, and he explained that comedy is all about recursive writing. The students enjoyed the interactive exhibits and lunch at Wegmans. What a great day!

It's Mock Interviews week! Students in Ms. Alonge's Career & Financial Management classes are practicing interview questions and how to give a firm handshake as they prepare for their mock interviews later this week. They are also learning the history of and how to tie an interview recommendation around the world: the necktie!
